Behold! The Iron Lung! As a long-time breath play fanatic, the Iron Lung has been the unattainable pinnacle of breath control devices. Not only was this heavy metal medical device designed precisely for the purpose of controlling a person’s breath, but also it is giant, beautiful, antique and simply over-the-top – exactly how I like my breath play toys! I had the extreme honor and privilege, along with Serious Bondage Mark and the lovely Heavy, to go visit the wonderful human being that owns one of these beauties. Although the Iron Lung is an intimidating machine, it is actually quite simple in it’s functionality. Essentially the body is placed in a large cylinder with the head outside. At the far end of the cylinder, there is a metal arm attached to a flexible bladder which pushes in and out, creating negative pressure within the cylinder. This assists the lungs in expanding, taking in air from outside the cylinder. I was very excited to play with this machine, as was Heavy. Naturally, I wanted to create an even more intense experience for Heavy, and so I secured them into a Max Cita straitjacket and leg binder and then belted them to the iron lung bed.
